Coloring TIme
I wasn’t sure if I should make this a Journaling post or a Crafting post, but I decided that since it has craft possibilities, it belonged here. I have started coloring again! I’m sure you’ve read or at least seen articles about the benefits of coloring for adults. If you haven’t, it can be a great stress reliever and has a great calming effect.
I tend to keep a pen and paper nearby when coloring because sometimes I get great ideas or realize I forgot to add something to a to-do list. I always feel calmer and more ready to tackle that list when I’ve taken some time out to color. Yes, there are dishes in the sink, and the floors could use a vacuum, but your brain needs a few minutes first.
I bought myself new coloring books and markers to re-start my healthy habit; the below were what I purchased. The set of 10 books can be purchased HERE, and the swearing book with markers can be purchased HERE. I will warn that the ten books set are random, and you won’t necessarily get what you see in the photos.
These are great, but I was a little disappointed that the POP books are double-sided.
The only downside is that the marker colors don’t really match the cap colors.
Now, of course, since this is a craft post, I had to color in a page to show you. So here is the first page in the swearing book, don’t worry, it’s just the title page. However, some of the others are really great. Now before you start judging my coloring skills, I never said I was any good at it. But, that is the best part about coloring; you don’t have to be a pro at shading, outlining, or ensuring the marker lines don’t show; you don’t even have to stay in the lines; you will still get all the stress relief.
So go buy yourself some coloring books and some markers or colored pencils and get your stress relief on. I will say that if you choose to use colored pencils, you can absolutely print coloring pages you find online. However, printing at home can be difficult if you prefer to use markers because the lighter colors will smudge the printed black lines.
Let me know what you decide to do, and share your artwork with us. Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect to help you relax, which is the important part.
